This experience is framed within the Network for Environmental Initiatives of the Province of Malaga, "Water and areas of ecological interest of the Province of Malaga," which "aims to gather ideas and suggestions from young people about how we can improve the environment in the environment of our people, "says Desirée Cortés.
One of the major objectives of this program is to try to bring citizens closer to environmental issues in their immediate environment, favouring decision-making and a change in the attitude of people towards the environment. The group that visited the River Guadalhorce was composed of 38 students, who were involved in giving ideas.
The Councillor of Environment stresses that "this initiative is framed within Agenda 21, which serves as a model of diagnosis and formulating strategies for sustainability through citizen participation, and incorporates environmental education with the aim of stimulating cooperation, volunteerism and contributing to the awareness of environmental issues by improving attitudes, providing knowledge and promoting good practice.
