The Verdiales and celebration in Las Cruces

On Sunday May 4 was held at the Chapel of the three crossings the XV Festival Verdiales who came to the groups of the Guadalhorce Valley, Axarquía and the Mountains of Malaga.

This year's Verdiales festival has had a special significance for our people as the Mayor of Almogía, Cristobal Torreblanca, handed over the post of Vice-Chairman of the cultural association Chapel of las Cruces to our Mayor, Jose Sanchez. The "rod" that represents this post was handed over to Sonia Ramos, Culture councillor of the municipality of Álora, representing the Mayor for personal reasons who could not attend the event. Every year the vice-presidency is transferred to one of the Mayors of towns that form the association, along with the groups of verdiales: Álora, Almogía, Pizarra and Cártama.

The groups Verdiales arrived from early morning after the flag was hoisted and the mass. Once there the party-goers were crossing their rods and were competing musically in front of the door of the Chapel, then immediately afterwards they returned to the building and then as tradition go to the magnificent installed tent to play and entertain the many attendees who enjoyed this music with tapas and good friends.
