A more modern Institute

The Delegate of Education, Jose Nieto, and the Mayor, Jose Sanchez, have visited the comprehensive reforms of IES las Flores, whose investment has been more than 1,000,000 €.

VISIT TO THE OPENING OF NEW FACILITIES IES LAS FLORES OF ÁLORA

The Provincial Delegate of the Ministry of Education, accompanied by the Mayor of Álora, Jose Sanchez Moreno, has made an inaugural visit to the new premises of IES las Flores.

The Delegate, Jose Nieto, has stressed "the heavy investment has been done at the Institute of Álora, worth €1,050,000, thereby allowing comprehensive reform of the Educational Centre." Jose Nieto also noted the investment made by the Ministry of Education will be for improving of the facilities at all colleges and Institutes of Álora. Thus, in the IES las Flores, the Ministry has embarked on the modernization through the installation of central heating for accumulators, tiled corridor, replacing interior doors, installation of an elevator and fitness for fire regulations, as well as reforming the Electrical Installation.

For his part, the Mayor of Álora, Jose Sanchez, said that "these reforms were being requested by the entire education community, teachers and parents" and "after so many years have been completed and we have ensured that the IES las Flores Institute is more modern."
The Mayor has already given his gratitude to the Ministry of Education for their investments for our people to modernize and reform the colleges and institutes.

The Director of IES las Flores, Antonio Hidalgo, had words of appreciation to the Delegation of Education and City Hall for these reforms as requested by teachers and the entire education sector.

This action executed in the IES Las Flores adds to those carried out in various schools in the municipality. They include works performed in the IES Valle del Sol, Los Llanos o Mellizas. Also scheduled is modernization of the CEIP Guadalhorce de la Barriada del Puente.

All these actions, together with other minor ones made in several Educational Centres, represent an investment overall 2,358,444 euros by the Ministry of Education to improve school facilities in the municipality.

In the IES Las Flores there are 569 pupils attended by 50 teachers. The Centre is bilingual in English and belongs to the network of centres ICT arranges for the implementation of new technologies into the practice of teaching and the management of schools. Participates in the program "Sport in schools" sponsored by the Ministry of Education and develops the reader project and plan to use the school library.
